Ahoy Mateys!

The new year is off and running, with our first Membership Dinner of 2022 at The Islander on January 20th. A small but lively group welcomed our newest members Barry and Maureen Crist…welcome aboard! We will look forward to seeing them more this year at our upcoming events! My sincere thanks to Lane and Judy for hosting the dinner in my absence and welcoming our new members with our traditional LIYC welcome gift. I was sorry to have missed our first event, with this pesky little thing called Covid. I tested positive the day of our dinner, so Michelle and myself were unable to attend. Thanks to the Lopez Pharmacy for getting me in for a rapid test that took 15 minutes…And it was free, and we are now Covid free.

We have a few more Membership Dinners, Opening Day, The Clam Bake and then full on to a summer with the 4th of July parade ahead of us and the North Cruise…A lot to look forward to, fun times ahead for sure!

Save the dates!! (July 10 – July 30) BJ and Pete are coordinating the North Cruise and already have members that are signing up! The cruise will run for 3 weeks and head all the way up to Desolation Sound! It is shaping up to be a fantastic cruise, you can join for a few days, a week or all. Please reach out to BJ and Pete at peteandbj@gmail. com for more information or to let them know you plan on joining the cruise. More information will be forthcoming on our website.

As I was writing this paragraph to remind members to renew their membership for this year, I instantly paused as it made me think about the wonderful people I have met in the last two years since we became members. I have truly enjoyed getting to know many of you! For me the LIYC represents a genuine fun group of lifelong friends, and I look forward to many more events with all of you. So, don’t forget to cruise over to our website lopezislandyachtclub. com and renew your membership on the Ship’s Store (members must be logged on as a member to pay for the membership renewal), the deadline has been extended to March 31st.

We have a fun Membership Dinner planned for February, and expect a great turn out. Please RSVP at the Ship’s Store, February Membership Dinner, starting February 4th. Dee Dee Lozier has an interesting slide show-presentation for us. And what would a LIYC party be without games and prizes!

Lastly, for some “Off The Rock” fun – The Seattle Boat Show is coming up February 04 – 12th at Lumen Field and Bell Harbor Marina. Our neighbors at Islands Marine Center will be there in booth #West 43, stop by and say hi…and if you see me there, don’t tell my wife!! 🙂
