July 2022 Commodores Corner

Greetings Yacht Club Members,

I would like to begin with wishing everyone a very happy 4th of July, I hope you will all be able to spend some time with friends and family during the holiday.

This years Clambake was a real treat, the weather turned out nice and it was great to see so many of you there. I would like to thank Pete and Bj for all of their efforts in coordinating this annual event and a special thank you to the Jennings and Bonelli’s for hosting us on their fantastic properties! Also thank you to everyone for the many delicious appetizers! The clam chowders made by Pete, Bj and Arlene were award winning! Brian out did himself this year with his special brew, and very much appreciate him sharing it with all of us.

The North Cruise is just days away and I look forward to hearing and seeing pictures of this great adventure that Pete and Bj have put together, with that said I heard the unfortunate news that Pete and Bj will not be able to go on the cruise as they are having some issues with their boat “Gone Fishin“. Many thanks to them for the dedication and hard work they put into it that will make this cruise an enjoyable event for all that are cruising.

For those folks who are not on the North cruise and would like to have a fun afternoon of golf, food and drinks, we are planning a golf tournament on July 24th at 3:30pm at the Lopez Island Golf course. Save the date, September 2-4 I will be hosting the Commodores Cruise to La Conner. I have set up a Friday night wine tasting event at Skagit Cellars Winery with light appetizers and fabulous wines to taste and you will be able to purchase bottles at the event. Saturday night we will have dinner and music at the Swinomish Yacht Club Clubhouse, all with in a short walking distance from the marina. I have secured 750’ of dock space at the marina so I would like to get whoever is interested signed up early so we can figure out how much of that space we will need.
