Greetings Lopez Island Yacht Club Members!

Spring is here and boats are starting to be dropped into the water, nothing better than the anticipation of another boating season on the near horizon!

I wanted to start off by telling you all how nice it was to see so many of you at our March membership dinner, it was great to see smiling faces in person again.  We had a great time, and I would like to thank Russ for his engaging presentation.

Membership Chair, Barbara Carver, presents Brian Holaburka and Melissa Rohde with their new member welcoming gift package, and boats to their boys.

Our updated Covid Protocols have changed to align with our County and State, going forward we will no longer require proof of vaccinations, only ask you to be the best judge of yourself, if you have symptoms take a test, if you test positive please do not attend the event.

Save the date!!!  We have moved our Membership Dinner this month to Thursday April 14th at The Islander, Jan has recruited Brian Krantz to do a presentation on a trip in Europe aboard a 31 SARGO “The Song of Summer” is the title of the presentation.  This should be another fun event, I hope you all can join us.

Our annual Vessel Safety Inspection is scheduled for Thursday April 28th beginning 10:00am at the Whiskey Hill & Galley docks, then off to The Islander dock, IMC dock and finishing up at Spencer’s Landing Marina.  If you would like to schedule your boat for inspection, please contact Lane at 360-421-2709 or langford1130@gmail.com.  Take advantage of this great opportunity to make sure your boat is as safe as it can be for this upcoming season!

Then on Saturday we will have the Sailboat Race with the Friday Harbor Sailing Club. Christening of boats Saturday at 3:00pm if you have a new boat or an old/new boat that you would like us to Christen contact me! It is also a great time to perform a boat re-naming ceremony. We will begin our evening festivities, starting with happy hour at 4:30 and dinner following. If you were at last year’s Opening Day, we hope to top that…and look forward to a great turnout!

This year’s Clambake will be held at The Jennings home (197 Cedars Lane) June 12th, thank you Scott & Suzi!  In keeping with tradition Bj & Pete will be making the White (New England) Clam Chowder this year, and Arlene has volunteered to make the Red (Manhattan) Clam Chowder.  Brian Duncan will once again be bringing his world famous Home Brew, if you plan on attending, please bring a side dish of your choice to accompany the Clam Chowders.

LIYC will be participating in the 4th of July Parade this year, so if you want to join in and or volunteer we need creative helping hands! More details to come on this as the Lions Club is taking suggestions now for this year’s theme.
