Ahoy Yachties! The club governing board has voted in Suzanne & Michael for membership at the May 4th board meeting. We are excited to introduce Suzanne Trebnick and Michael Vossen. Below is their story to get you acquainted with them. They have attended several club events as guests, but now are official members. Please welcome Mike and Suzanne.

From the Michael & Suzanne … on Boating

Land of 10,000 Lakes, Minnesota, is where we both grew up. Summers were  spent in or on the water, swimming and water skiing. During college summers, we both were instructors at the Minnesota Outward Bound School, guiding canoe trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario. In 1980, Michael was transferred to Oregon and we transitioned to river rafting, kayaking, and sailing.

Our first sail boat was a 36 foot Elite. We spent the  summers exploring the San Juans and Canadian Gulf Islands. Desolation Sound was the highlight.

Michael crewed on a 40 foot boat from Portland to Hilo, Hawaii.

Our sons Josh and Alex, and both of us crewed on our friend’s 40 foot boat in Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu (black magic land), and the Great Barrier Reef. Our sons grew up sailing and now when they visit us on Lopez, we spend time power boating and crabbing with our power boat.

To the Membership:

Say ”hello” to the Suzanne and Michael when you see them.
