Greetings Yacht Club Members,

We celebrated Labor Day Weekend this year with the Commodores Cruise in La Conner. We had a great time and I would like to thank everyone that came for the weekend festivities. The weather turned out perfect. We  kicked off Friday Night with a Wine Tasting and appetizers at Skagit Cellars local tasting room. Saturday evening we began with a happy hour and dinner at the Swinomish Yacht Club Clubhouse, and a little dancing happened late into the night. It was a great venue within walking distance to the docks and downtown.

Our September Membership Dinner was another great event and well attended. Rick Carlson was our guest speaker and presented an educational slide show showing how the sun, moon and the seafloor effect and play into predicting the tides. Thank you Rick and Jan for your time and  putting this presentation together.

We are seeking members to help to fill several important positions in the LIYC for 2023:

Rear Commodore:  Plans the annual member cruise and Clambake.  If you are interested or would like to nominate a member please contact Jan Wagner (edenhill@comcast.net), Bj Christensen (peteandbj@gmail.com or myself dustyforster@gmail.com). Webmaster position: Postings, photos, calendar updates, etc. After 15 years of running our website our fantastic Web Wench, Judy Welker would like to pass the torch. Thank you Judy for all of your work and dedication over the past years.  If you are a little tech savvy and interested, please contact me directly at 425-891-5459  or dustyforster@gmail.com. We are also planning to add 2 new positions in the club for 2023; A “Fishing Chair” and a second “Sailing Chair” these will not be board member positions. These 2 new positions will be fun and great addition for the club!  Each chair person will be responsible for creating a couple of casual events for our members to enjoy throughout the year. Some ideas:  Member and guest “Fishing Derby” and “Sail around the Rock Race”.  Please contact me directly if you are interested in either of these positions at dustyforster@gmail.com

Please join us for our October Membership Dinner coming up on the 19th at The Islander, with our guest presenter Pam Christensen talking about the July Desolation Sound Cruise. This will no doubt be a fun gathering!

Save the Date: October 29th for the 2nd Annual Halloween Party at the Lopez Island Golf Club.  If you missed it last year…don’t miss it this year!  This will be a Potluck and BYOB style gathering. I will be making a large batch of Spooky Chili and Cornbread Muffins again this year.  We will have a Costume contest and pumpkin carving contest prizes and trophies! Costumes are encouraged but not required so come as you are, the more the spookier!

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming events.  Until then, Stay Safe and Well.

Cheers,

Dusty
