Hello Lopez Island Yacht Club Members.

Cruising weather has arrived. I hope everyone is taking advantage of it and finding a quiet anchorage to watch the sunset.

The Buggies, Fessler’s, and Shirwin Smith are exploring Hood Canal, also known as the “Wild Side of Washington.” It will be fun to receive the reports of their cruise.

The Fourth is quickly coming upon us. The traditional parade and Fun Run have been cancelled. But the Fireworks are a GO. My lawn is an excellent place to view the fireworks, and everyone is invited to come and view show. If you have friends or family visiting, they are welcome. Bring a drink, appetizer, or a dessert if you choose. Show up around 8:30 before the fireworks for social hour. Please RSVP to plan for parking. You may want to bring a lawn chair if you have one handy.

Jan Wagner has put together a great cruise going south starting at Langley July 23, and it looks
like we will have a good turnout.    You will find the details at “Goin’ South” – 2021 Summer
Cruise Itinerary – Lopez Island Yacht Club”.

With the border still closed, the Commodore cruise to Sidney will now be at Cap Sante on
September 24th – 26th.  It will be quieter this year since the Oyster Run has been canceled.  I’m
currently requesting the banquet room at Anthony’s for Saturday night. I will send out a sign-up
as I get details from Cap Sante.

In closing, if you would like to plan an event, cruise, or have a program idea contact any of the
Board members or send your yachting story to Judy Welker.
