Call for Love Letters to a Boat

Valentine’s Day is coming up and as Soundings editor I need your help again! Please write a short love letter or poem to your favorite boat. If you and your boat are going through a tough patch or breaking up, those letters are OK as well. Love is complicated.

I’ll compile your letters into the next Soundings article: “Love Letters to a Boat”. 

Keep your letter short and email it to me (migael65@gmail.com) by Valentine’s Day, Sunday Feb 14. The more letters the better!

As an example, here’s my letter:

Dearest Scout,

Although last year we didn’t see a lot of each other, I hope you know that you are still the boat we love best. Yes, we did spend more time with that little aluminum skiff, but she was just a friend to help with crabbing in Swifts Bay. Those times were never real “dates.” 

It was you who took Bill and I around the Islands. It was you who had a real slip all summer. And didn’t we put you back into your shed all clean and ready for next season?
