Howdy LIYC members,

With the first Daffodil Sightings on Lopez Island comes the time to start preparing for spring boating. Having just ordered bottom paint and the parts to fix my pot puller, I will soon be ready for spring Prawns and Boating. Hopefully, with Covid numbers trending to the good, we will share fresh Prawns as a group soon.

Vice Commodore Dusty Forster is actively working on plans for Opening Day on May 1st but will continue to monitor as the Covid situation unfolds. With the Canadian waters still closed, early yachting most likely will be in the beautiful US waters.

General Meetings continue on Zoom for the next couple of months.  I know everyone enjoyed the February program  presented by Gene Helfman, “Haida Gwaii by Camper, Ferry, and Zodiac.” If you missed the meeting, please view the program at this link. You will not want to miss it. February Zoom Meeting Presentation: “Haida Gwaii by Camper, Ferry, and Zodiac” – Lopez Island Yacht Club.

The March program that Dusty arranged looks to be again a great one.   “Paddling with Spirits: A Solo Kayak Journey” by Irene Skyriver.  The meeting will be on the 17th with an open mic at 5:45 pm, meeting  starting at 6:00 pm.  I will send out a flyer next week with details but hope to see everyone on the 17th virtually.

Continued safe Boating, and see you on the water soon
