While Jon and Krista officially hail from Nashville, Tennessee, they both have a long history with
the San Juan Islands. Krista’s grandfather built a house facing Fisherman Bay on Lopez in 1960.
Krista spent many summers as a child on Lopez and considers it her second home. Jon’s brother
Jeff moved to Seattle over 25 years ago and Jon made numerous trips to the San Juans as crew
on his sailboat Verity. Krista and Jon met in 2017, have been coming to Lopez together ever
since. They were married in Friday Harbor in 2022.
Jon learned to sail at 12 and later owned a series of sailboats. Krista’s interest in boating has
only recently manifested itself. Together they purchased Gratitude, a 2019 Greenline 39 Hybrid,
in the winter of 2019 in Annapolis with an eye to bringing her to the Pacific Northwest. They
cruised extensively along the East Coast during Covid. Gratitude was shipped via truck to Seattle
in late 2021. She is berthed in Seattle during the winter and stays in Fisherman Bay during the
summer. Krista and Jon love exploring the islands and look forward to becoming active in LIYC.
