It is a beautiful boat built in their cozy shop. \n\n\n\nChili provided by Maureen Crist and cornbread by BJ Christensen.   \n\n\n\nBring whatever you would like to drink.   \n\n\n\nCompostable bowls & spoons will be provided or alternatively bring your own spoon & bowl. \n\n\n\nChili will contain meat\, bring your own food if this is an issue. \n\n\n\nAny member of LIYC or a member of the Lopez sailing community welcome.  This is a very special opportunity to see traditional boat building techniques in action.  Please RSVP to crist.barry@gmail.com so we have an accurate count for the chili.

With a PhD in Ecology from Cornell University\, Gene was on the faculty of the University of Georgia for thirty years and authored books on fish and marine conservation. He spent much of his professional career underwater demonstrating that fish are smarter than conventionally thought. To reach a broader audience with his conservation message\, he has written award-winning novels about killer whales and sharks. His second killer whale novel\, In the Realm of the Whales\, appeared in late 2025.
