We both grew up around the water in Alameda, CA. We left it for 7 years when we moved to Dallas, TX, but were happy to return to the West coast when we moved to Lopez in 2021. Roman’s parents live on Center Island and so the connection to Lopez began over 20 years ago. He has been around sailing/boating almost his whole life, even living on a sailboat for years as a child.
In 2022, Roman was given a 1968 Boston Whaler which he and the kids got back to working order. Now we use it regularly to commute back and forth to Center Island.
We have three young children. Our oldest (10 years old) began sailing two years ago and just competed in her first Lopez Cup race last month. She built a rowboat with her grandpa which she named “Grape and the Sea Star.” She also sails an El Toro.

In accordance with the club’s By-laws, they have completed all the requirements of sending in their application, initiation fees, photo, etc. Publishing their photo and bio is the last step in the process. After ten days for comments from the membership, the governing board will vote for membership.
