Lyn and Katherine Sorensen both grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Katherine moved to the PNW at age 12 when her father retired from the air force and returned the family to Washington state where he grew up. Lyn’s ancestors (Weeks) homesteaded on Lopez in the 1800’s, which makes him a 5th generation Lopezian.
Lyn has been around boats all his life as both his grandfathers were commercial fishermen and pleasure boaters. Katherine, seeing the handwriting on the wall, agreed to purchase a small boat soon after their son was born. Three boats later, they still enjoy exploring the San Juan’s and the Gulf islands.
They both retired around 2016 and were fortunate enough to purchase the family home on Lopez. They spend the majority of their time there now while maintaining a foothold in Issaquah as well.
